Testing Skype Audio Settings with Echo123
Echo123 is a free Skype service that lets you test to see if your audio settings are working properly. Simply type "echo123" in the address bar at the bottom of Skype or add it to your contacts. Calling echo123 will launch an automated testing robot that allows you to record and playback sound.
Echo123 provides another useful feature that tests receiving incoming calls. If you send “callme”(without the quotes)in a IM chat with echo123, the echo123 service will call you back and let you leave a message which will be played back to you. This will help you verify that your USB phone and audio settings are set properly. The "callme" feature is also an easy way to test your incoming Skype call ring tone.
To add Echo123 to your Skype contact list, from the Skype Tools menu -> Add to Contact List entry as shown below:

When Echo123 is added, click on the chat button as shown below.
You will see the following chat screen and you should enter “callme” and press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Within 10-20 seconds, you should see the following screen, and the USB phone or phone connected to a Skype adapter will ring. Pick up the handset and follow the instructions. The Echo Test Service will ask you to leave a message which will be played back immediately. This will help you verify that the Skype phone and audio settings are all connected and installed properly.
