Use Skype as a Remote Video Security Monitor
Want to check in and see what's happening at your home while you are away? You can set up a remote security monitor system using Skype Video. It's simple and inexpensive, here's how:
You will need:
- 2 Skype accounts, lets call them "Home1" and "Remote1".
- 1 USB Skype web video cameras
Configuration:
- Log into Home1 account and add Remote1 user as your only contact.
- Re-log into Home1 account and go to Tools --> Options --> Advanced and check "Automatically answer incoming calls"

- Go to Tools --> Options --> Video and check "Enable Skype Video" and "Start my video automatically"

- Go to Tools --> Options --> Privacy and select to Allow calls and chats from "only people from my Contacts"

- Leave your Home1 account open at al times.
- Position your webcam at the location you want to monitor (your doorway, for example).
- Log into your Remote1 Skype account and add your Remote1 account to your contacts.
Now when you are away from home and want to monitor what's happening at home, log into your Remote1 Skype account and call your Home1 contact. Your Home1 account will automatically answer and start sending you live video from your webcam at home!
