Using B2K Skype Adapter Without a Land Line

The B2K Skype Adapter is set by default to look for a landline dial tone before making a call. The manufacturer assumes that most people will use the same telephone for both Skype and landline calls, and when people pick up the phone, there is a greater chance that the call being made is a landline(PSTN / POTS) call rather than a Skype call.

 

But you can set the Skype Adapter to work without being connected to a regular(PSTN/ POTS) phone line.

 

Windows Users:

1. Right-click the SkypeMate icon(green cloud with telephone) in the System Toolbar (lower right of desktop, near the clock).
   
   
2. Click on “Advanced” in Skypemate.
   
   
3. Switch the "adaptor default channel" from "PSTN” to “USB”.

Now you can use the Skype Adapter without a land-line (PSTN) connection.
