Macam is a freeware app and driver that supports many USB webcams on Mac OS X 10.4! Here is how to use a webcam with Skype 2.0 Beta for Mac and Macam.
- Download Skype 2.0 with video support
- Download current version of Macam
- Copy the macam.component into the root level of your hard drive in the /Library/QuickTime/ directory (delete any previous Macam versions in this directory).
- Optional: Install the Macam application. This is not required, but you must copy the "macam.component" into the /Library/QuickTime/ directory (step 3).
- Plug in your Macam supported USB webcam directly to a Mac USB port (do not use a USB hub)
- Restart computer(may be required)
- In Skype, go to Preferences --> Video --> Camera. You should see a USB camera available in drop down. Select it. You should now be able to preview your webcam in this preference panel.
