- When VoipBusterMate is running, its green icon will appear in system tray
. This indicates that the USB Phone Adapter and VoipBuster are properly connected.
Landline Calling Mode and VoipBuster Calling Mode
If you have a telephone line connected to the USB Phone Adapter , you can place and receive regular telephone calls as usual. The Adapter is set by default to landline mode. When you pick up the phone connected to the Adapter, you will hear your regular landline dial tone.
The phone will ring when you get an incoming landline or incoming VoipBuster call. Just pick up the phone to answer as you normally would.
To switch to VoipBuster calling mode, dial *. You will hear a different dial tone. Now you can call a standard phone number or speed-dial a VoipBuster contact from your phone's keypad (see details below).
Dialing Phone Numbers with VoipBuster
If you have VoipBuster credit, you can dial a standard phone number from the keypad using this format:
Country code + area code + phone number + #
For example, a phone number in the United States would be dialed:
1 310 555 1212 then #
1 |
Country Code |
310 |
Area Code |
555 1212 |
Phone Number |
# |
Sends the phone number to VoipBuster and places the call |
Speed-Dial a VoipBuster Contact
You can dial any of your VoipBuster Contacts directly from the phone's keypad using a Speed-Dial key sequence.
First, in VoipBuster, right click on a contact and select "Set Speed Dial". Enter any two digit number as that contact's Speed-Dial code, for example, "11". Then when you want to call this contact, enter the speed-dial code on the phone's keypad and press # key to place the call.
For example, dial: 11 #
Just assign a different two-digit Speed-Dial code for each Skype contact you will want to call from the phone keypad.

Audio Settings in VoipBuster and Windows
In the VoipBuster window, go to Tools --> Options --> Sound Devices --> Sound device drop-down menu and select "USB Audio Device" for Audio In and Audio Out

Windows will normally recognize the USB Phone Adapter as the default audio device when you plug it into a USB port on your computer. You should then be able to use it for VoipBuster conversations without changing any settings.
However, you may want to specify the USB Phone Adapter for VoipBuster audio only, while using your PC soundcard for other audio(music, etc):
- Go to Windows Start --> Settings --> Control panel --> Sounds and audio devices
- Go to "Audio" tab and select your PC's sound card as Sound playback default device.
- Go to "Voice"' tab and select your PC's sound card as Sound playback default device.
VoipBusterMate Advanced Settings

Right-click the
icon in system tray and select "Advanced" then select the DeviceOption tab:
Adaptor default channel: PSTN or USB
This determines the calling mode you're in when you pick up the phone.
PSTN: You will be in landline mode when you pick up the phone. You will hear your regular dial tone and can simply dial a landline call as you normally would. (Or press * to switch to USB mode). The USB Phone Adapter's default setting is PSTN mode.
USB: You will be in VoipBuster calling mode when you pick up the phone. This is useful if you want to use a regular phone to make and receive only VoipBuster calls.
Note: A phone connected to the adapter will ring for both regular landline and Internet calls, whether you have set "adaptor default channel" to PSTN or USB. Just pick up the phone to answer as you normally would.
VoipBusterMate Troubleshooting
The VoipBusterMate icon in System Tray will show its status:
Green- Connected and running properly.
Red- USB Phone Adapter is not connected properly. Unplug and reconnect USB cable. Also make sure the unit is connected directly to a USB port on your computer- do not connect through an unpowered USB hub.
Grayed out- Make sure VoipBuster is running.
