Mac OS X User Guide for USB-W1DL Cordless Phone

Setup Hardware

1. Connect base to the computer's USB port.
   
   
2. Place handset in base to charge battery. The Charge light on base will blink until the battery is fully charged.
   
   
3. Register the handset to the base:
   
   
   • Press and hold the C key on handset for approx. 3 seconds until you see three vertical lines on LCD screen.
     
     
   • Press and hold the HANDSFREE key on base for approx. 3 seconds until you see this icon on LCD screen:

Installation

1. Start Skype and log in to a Skype account
   
   
2. Connect the USB-W1DL Cordless Phone to a USB port on your Mac
   
   
3. Download SkyMACMate software here: SkyMACMate version 1.0.0.12 zip
   (Note: This Mac OS X driver is not available on the CD-ROM)
   
   
4. Double click the SkyMACMate 1.0.0.12.dmg to install, then drag the SkyMACMate icon into the Applications folder.
   
   
5. Open SkyMACMate from your Applications folder
   
   
6. When you first run SkyMACMate, you will be prompted that "Another program wants to use Skype". Select "Allow this program to use Skype" and click OK.

When SkyMACMate is running, you will see its green phone icon in the dock:

Using the Handset

1. Display Skype Contacts on LCD screen 2. UP / DOWN Scroll Contacts on LCD screen (Controls volume during call) 3. SEND - Place/answer Call 4. Start SkypeOut dialing(same as 00) 5. C Display Skype Contacts in Skype window (Mute on/off during call) 6. Hang up 7. 0-9 Dial SkypeOut number or Speed-Dial 8. Select ring tone To call a contact from handset: Press then scroll to select a contact on the LCD screen, then press to call selected contact.   Icons indicating your contacts' current online status appear next to their Skype ID on the LCD screen: - Online - Offline - SkypeOut   To call a contact in Skype window, press C then scroll to select the contact, and press to call selected contact.

Dialing SkypeOut Phone Numbers

 

You can dial any regular phone number (SkypeOut) from the keypad using the following format:

 

00 + country code + area code + phone number +

For example, a phone number in the United States would be dialed:

00 1 310 555 1212 then

 

00	Tells Skype you are making a SkypeOut call
1	Country Code
310	Area Code
555 1212	Phone Number
	Sends the phone number to Skype and places the call

Speed-Dial a Skype Contact (Mac)

 

You can dial any of your Skype Contacts directly from the phone's keypad using a speed-dial key sequence.

 

First, in Skype you need to rename the Skype Contact so that it begins with a two digit number. For example, Skype contact "Nastassia" is renamed "12 Nastassia".

 

Likewise, change any other Skype Contacts' names to begin with unique two digit numbers.

 

Then when you want to call a Skype Contact from your phone's keypad, just dial the two digit number you have assigned to that Contact, and press to place the call.

 

For example to call "12 Nastassia", dial: 12 then press

 

Skype Audio Device Settings for Mac

In Skype --> Preferences --> Audio, select "USB Audio Device" as the Audio output, Audio input and Ringing:

In Mac System Preferences --> Sound --> Input and Output, use your preferred system audio device, for example, "Internal Speakers".

Adjust the speaker and microphone volume using the SkyMacMate control window (double-click SkyMacMate icon in the dock to bring the control window into view).
