Installation = Plug It In!
When you plug the Skype Memory Phone into a PC,
the following window will appear. The first option, "Run the program using the program provided on the device" will be pre-selected. Click OK.
The pre-loaded version of Skype will automatically start. Log in to your Skype account as you normally would.
Autorun SkypeMate
You will see the following window pop up. Select the first option “Allow this program to use Skype” and click “OK”. Running SkypeMate is not required to use Skype, but it allows you to navigate the Skype window and dial calls directly from the phone's keypad.
You are now running Skype from the Skype Memory Phone's flash drive. When you're finished, just close the Skype program and unplug the phone from the computer you're using.
Since you did not install Skype on the PC, your settings, call history, Skype contact list and other personal account information remain only on the Skype Memory Phone, not on the PC.

Dialing SkypeOut Phone Numbers
You can dial any regular phone number (SkypeOut) from the keypad using the following format:
00 + country code + area code + phone number +
For example, a phone number in the United States would be dialed:
00 1 310 555 1212 then
00 |

Speed-Dial a Skype Contact (Windows)
You can dial any of your Skype Contacts directly from the phone's keypad using a Speed-Dial key sequence.
First, in Skype, right click on a Skype contact and select "Set Speed Dial". Enter any two digit number as that contact's Speed-Dial code, for example, "11". Then when you want to call this contact, enter the speed-dial code on the phone's keypad and press
key to place the call.
For example, dial: 11
Just assign a different two-digit Speed-Dial code for each Skype contact you will want to call from the phone keypad.

Audio Settings in Skype/Windows
Windows will normally recognize the Skype Memory Phone as the default audio device when you plug it into a USB port on your computer. You should then be able to use it for Skype conversations without changing any settings.
However, you may want to specify the Skype Memory Phone for Skype audio only, while using your PC soundcard for other audio(music, etc):
- Go to Windows Start --> Settings --> Control panel --> Sounds and audio devices
- Go to "Audio" tab and select your PC's sound card as Sound playback default device.
- Go to "Voice"' tab and select your PC's sound card as Sound playback default device.
- In the Skype window, go to Tools --> Options --> Sound device and select "USB Audio Device" for "Audio in" and "Audio out" (do not use "Windows default device").
See USB Sound Device Settings for detailed instructions.
FAQ
How do I upgrade the version of Skype installed on the Skype Memory Phone?
Can I use the built-in memory drive to run other progams and files?
Yes, the phone's flash drive works just like a regular USB memory stick, so you can store any kind of files and take them with you wherever you go. You can also run other "portable applications" from the USB flash drive. The Skype program uses less than 20MB of the available 128MB, so there is plenty of space for more files. See my links and notes about portable applications.
